Catherine Bertini

A professor of public administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Catherine Bertini served 10 years (1992-2002) as executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, the world's largest international humanitarian agency. She was the World Food Prize Laureate in 2003 and, in 2007, was awarded the Gene White Lifetime Achievement Award for Child Nutrition. She is also a former senior fellow on agricultural development at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
