Born in 1959, Drew Westen is a professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his B.A. from Harvard University, an M.A. in Social and Political Thought from the University of Sussex in England, and a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan. He has been both an active researcher and a practicing clinician for 25 years. Mr. Westen's research deals with the cognitive, emotional, and motivational processes that people use to maintain intimate relationships. To date, he has published 140 research papers in the scientific literature. Mr. Westen is currently a guest blogger on the Huffington Post, a commentator on NPR’s "All Things Considered," and the founder of Westen Strategies, a political and corporate consulting firm.
