As a graduate student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Alex Holland worked with her university professors on the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) grant program, providing professional development for community leaders throughout the Mississippi River Delta region.
Holland moved to Washington, D.C., upon graduation in 2016 after accepting a full-time position with DRA. In this role, she assisted the agency with the development of federal programs and interagency initiatives designed to enhance economic opportunity in underserved areas of the eight-state Delta region. At DRA, Holland focused her efforts on establishing public-private partnerships, supporting workforce training, fostering place-based development, and capacity building for state and local elected officials.
After designing and implementing the Delta Creative Placemaking Initiative, she is inspired and ready to tackle a new challenge and joined McClure Engineering Co. to continue her placemaking work in the Delta region.
