Claiborne Deming was an Executive Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee at Murphy Oil Corporation. He was a Senior Advisor at TPH Partners, LLC. Deming served as Treasurer and Director of American Petroleum Institute, Inc. He served as the CEO and President of Murphy Oil Corporation from 1994 to 2008. He joined the firm in 1979.

He serves as President of the El Dorado Education Foundation. Deming is a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, and Louisiana Bar Association. He is current Chairman of the National Petroleum Council. Deming serves as a member of the Tulane Law School Dean's Advisory Board and member of the Business School Council for the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. He received a J.D. in 1979 from Tulane University and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in 1976.

Claiborne Deming, former president and CEO of Murphy Oil Corporation in El Dorado, Arkansas, gives a Clinton School lecture about his views on the debate over climate change and the pending cap-and-trade legislation in the U.S. Congress.

Deming led Murphy Oil from 1994 to 2008 and previously served as executive vice president and COO of the company. Currently, Deming is a private investor and serves as a member of the board of directors of Murphy Oil and chairman of the executive committee. He is the past president of the 25 Year Club of the Oil and Gas Industry and currently serves as chairman of the National Petroleum Council.
