Appointed ambassador to the United States by President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007, Vimont has more than 30 years of experience in the French Foreign Service. He previously served as chief of staff to the French minister of foreign affairs and as ambassador of France to the European Union.

Ambassador Pierre Vimont of France will give a Clinton School lecture titled, "France’s Role in World: Policies and Priorities." He said that his government always looks for peaceful solutions to global problems. Urging support for the United Nations, Ambassador Vimont said cooperative diplomacy is the best approach in a world that grows more interdependent each day.
