Ed Bethune

Edwin Ruthvin "Ed" Bethune, Jr. is a lawyer and lobbyist in Washington, D.C., who was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Arkansas from 1979-1985. His last campaign was an unsuccessful challenge in 1984 to the second-term reelection of Democratic U.S. Senator David Pryor.

A former Republican Congressman who served Arkansas’s second district from 1979 to 1985, Ed Bethune discusses the current state of American politics and his views on the 2010 congressional elections. The only Republican elected to Congress from Arkansas’s second district since the Civil War, Bethune has spent the past 15 years practicing law in Washington D.C., where he’s represented clients such as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former House Majority Leader Tom Delay.
