Kevin and Hannah Salwen

Kevin Salwen was reporter and editor at "The Wall Street Journal" for over 18 years. After his tenure at "The Wall Street Journal," he started a magazine, "Motto." He serves on the board for Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta and works with the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Hannah Salwen is a junior at an Atlanta high school, where she is a member of the varsity volleyball team, coeditor of the school yearbook, and a representative on the student council. She has been volunteering since the fifth grade at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Café, and other nonprofits.

Kevin Salwen and his teenage daughter Hannah discuss their book, "The Power of Half," about their family’s decision to sell their house, buy a house half the size and donate the proceeds to charity. Prodded by Hannah, the Salwens sold their 6,500 square-foot Atlanta home and donated more than $800,000 to aid two dozen impoverished villages in Ghana. At the Clinton School, the Salwens will discuss their decision and how it changed their lives.
