David Harvey is president and CEO of ProLiteracy Worldwide, the world's largest organization of adult basic education and literacy programs. ProLiteracy operates in 65 countries worldwide, including the United States where it has 1,200 community-based volunteers. Harvey is responsible for ProLiteracy’s advocacy efforts on behalf of adult learners at the national and international levels and leads the domestic and international programs that provide training and resources to programs that offer adults instruction in reading, writing and mathematics.

Before coming to ProLiteracy, David Harvey served as executive director of AIDS Alliance since he founded the organization in 1994. During his tenure the organization became a leading national AIDS advocacy group. Under his leadership, With a membership of over 650 community-based HIV care and prevention programs, AIDS Alliance - with a membership of over 650 community-based HIV care and prevention programs - became the only national organization devoted to the unique concerns of women, children, youth, and families affected by HIV.
